On April 23, 2024, the British Parliament passed a law allowing the deportation of illegal immigrants to Rwanda. The Rwandan Opposition Platform composed of the following political organisations Amahoro PC, FDU-Inkingi, PS Imberakuri and RNC (Rwanda National Congress) joins the UN, Heads of government, human rights organisations, and religious leaders in denouncing this law and calling on the British government to reconsider its decision

The platform is a coalition of political organizations AMAHORO P.C, FDU-Inkingi, PS-Imberakuri and IHURIRO– RNC. These organizations consist of all ethnicities in Rwanda (Hutu-Tutsi and Twa) with members who have
had a diverse life history. They include persons who were members of the RPF and political parties active in Rwanda since 1991, persons who never belonged to any political party before and genocide survivors. There
are personalities that have served under President Paul Kagame of the RPF and the government of late President Juvenal Habyarimana. The platform is open to other political organizations that support its vision and values.

Under the current system, there will be presidential and legislative elections. The Chamber of Deputies consists of eighty members, twenty-seven of whom are directly appointed by the President. The rest are voted from a closed list in a system of proportional representation where voters only vote for political parties and not individuals. The candidates are selected by the Party without consulting the members.
